I feel like currently, my life revolves around managing my anxiety. I don’t mean that in a bad way at all… I’m putting my recovery first. I’ve tried a few self-help books in the past and haven’t taken anything away from them. I found them packed with science and statistics and they were so unrelatable. I started to think that books just weren’t going to work for me.
Until I Found This…
I’d seen a pretty pink and blue cover on my Twitter feed with someone talking about self-help and I wanted to see more. I clicked on the link to see it was The Anxiety Solution: A Quieter Mind, a Calmer You. I read a few reviews and was stunned to see everyone who had rated it had found it useful. Needless to say, I ordered it and couldn’t wait to see what it was like.
A Page Turner
Once I picked this book up, I couldn’t put it down. The way Chloe has written it makes everything feel so relatable, she’s made you feel like you’re not alone. She’s been through all the motions with anxiety herself and it’s so reassuring hearing her talk about personal experience rather than just shooting other peoples scenarios at you. The book was done 2 weeks later and I felt so inspired.
Something I should probably mention is that I’m agoraphobic as well as having anxiety. When I bought this book I’d just started exposure therapy and was lacking in confidence. This book gave me the confidence to do more, push myself more and relax more.
Packed With Tools
Chloe has filled this book with tools, tips and techniques. If you’re like me and find some common techniques don’t work for your anxiety, there’s still something in here for you. She even talks about the link between our gut, the food we’re eating and our brains. This is something I’d researched last year so was thrilled for some more information in this book. Eating to beat Anxiety may be my favourite chapter.
There’s quotes, challenges, a self-help diary, a place for affirmations… the toolkit at the end of the book is basically now my bible. Everything is broken down and so easy to follow. There is even a Q&A and lots of online recourses listed for you right at the back.
I’ve actually just finished reading the book a second time. It’s helpful to read it over, or just certain chapters, if you’re looking to implement strategies from it into everyday life. There are new things I’ve picked up on this time and found different parts more interesting. I actually keep this book in my bag sometimes if I’m going somewhere and think I’ll need something to calm me. That’s the best thing about The Anxiety Solution, I really have found it soothing to read. It’s not just statistics and facts, it doesn’t tell you to just not worry, you’re over-thinking. Right from the start, it’s written in a tone that really helps relax you. I often use it in my ‘self-care Sunday’ routine as part of my wind down.
Can a Book Really Help?
A question I’ve been asked multiple times since throwing this book at every one of my friends (not literally), really I am a walking advertisement for it though…
My answer is yes. BUT, the book doesn’t do the work for you. It gives you the tools and motivation you need to work on your anxiety, however severe it may be. Of course, not every book clicks with everyone. Also, The Anxiety Solution is aimed at women so this book isn’t for everyone. I do, however, think absolutely everyone could learn a thing or two from it. You do have to be willing to put work in to recover and tackle anxiety, no one else can do it for you. But people can help and a truly believe that’s what Chloe’s doing in this book.

It did so Much More…
For me, it did more than just help me along my way. It made me feel like I wasn’t alone and it was like I had a personal guide all the time. I’m not saying this book cured me, it didn’t. I’m working every day to get myself better with my general anxiety and agoraphobia. It did motivate me though and it’s lifted my mood more times than I can count. If you’re looking for a book that is uplifting, motivational and packed full of self-help tools to manage anxiety then this is definitely for you.

I’m also frequently asked if I recommend anything else for anxiety. I use these essential oils all the time and usually diffuse them while reading the book. It gives me that ‘zen’ feeling. Of course, you can choose any scent you like really. Lavendar is just relaxing for me.
Until next time!
